Florence is such a beautiful city, every corner has a history associated with it and the artwork is unforgettable. We were there a few years ago and totally loved it, haha and like you said it did made me feel like I no nothing about art. So agree with you about talking to strangers, that is the whole point about traveling to a new city, makes for an even better experience.

Thanks Stacy! Although smoking is a terrible habit, I have found that smoking generally leads to conversations with random people, people I then go onto travel with and make friendships with!! Also staying in hostels I've found is a good way to meet people on the road :) you're right, the experiences are much more interesting!
