Since I don’t have a garden for myself (not many people do here due to the lack of space), my favourite spot at the moment is this wonderfully aesthetic and quiet garden next to the Hulhumale’ Mosque. The Mosque is captivating in itself, with its grand golden dome, wide-open windows and porcelain walls. But it’s the surrounding nature, elegantly unspoilt and full of viridescent vegetation that drew me in and had me sitting down, soaking it all up. It’s the perfect spot to let time simply stand still for a while, since it’s particularly cool and shaded. Read. Eat lunch. Lose yourself in thoughts.
The garden makes a delightful change from the blistering heat and blues of the ocean.
