PRACTICE BEING OPEN

Today I remind myself to practice Being Open, not just to change but to STABILITY too, which is completely foreign to me. Practice opening your chest, we’re becoming such hunched creatures! Practice openness to things not going your way. Yeah the kids will be brats sometimes (I refer to teaching English!), the lesson plans might flop, your friend lets you down, you didn’t get the job you went for, you get dumped, your family come and stay in your house for A WEEK (!!!!)…practice being flexible. 60% of our body is water, so flowww… floww, flow.

You can’t just ‘become’ open overnight. I’m quite an open person in regards to the kinds of things I talk about, but I’m also incredibly timid and anxious. I tend to close up, shut down, and put up barricades during situations which have HUGE POTENTIAL to bring me pleasure, joy and happiness, simply because I worry too much. Alas, I’m only human.

I recommend practicing Being Open.

Small steps. Order something different at your local cafe (or try somewhere different altogether). Don’t assume you know something. Reduce expectations. Remember what it was like to be a child and easy-breezy. Consciously breathe in openness (notice how fresh it is), let the muscles in your rib cage expand phenomenally, feel the bolts come loose, imagine knots untying, and vision the fluid, powerful energy unlock itself. Consciously exhale that energy out of your lungs and stomach, up your throat and out of your mouth and MAKE SOME NOISE! Release that openness into the world around you. Recognise YOU hold the power within yourself to Be Open.

The more you practice something (anything), the more you attract it into your life.

Practice loving, peace, openness… you’ll attract love, peace, and openness into your life. Practice hate, indulge in stress, self-doubt and closed-mindedness, the more you’ll attract hate, stress, self-doubt and closed-mindedness into all aspects of your life.

Give this yoga video a try, I absolutely LOVE Yoga With Adriene.

*This is part of my 2017 project to recall the lessons life throws at me so that 23 won’t just be another year like the others, but one of contemplation and growth. What have you learnt so far this year? How could you PRACTICE being open? What do you want to attract into your life? Please talk to me!

Hi! I'm Sarah. I dropped out of university tired with the mundane life I was living in England. Now I'm an aspiring ex-pat of the world, having already lived and worked in Vietnam, Italy and Maldives. I'm using this blog to document my experiences and hopefully inspire others!
